ETA Coach Thursday Night Swim Workouts

I am very excited to announce the ETA Coach Thursday Night Swim Workouts. Whether you're training for your first sprint triathlon or your 5th Ironman, ETA Coach Thursday night swim workouts will meet your swimming needs. The swim workouts are designed for triathletes and open water swimmers looking to build their swim fitness and speed. The workouts will start at 1200 meters and continually progress up to 3000 meters. It's recommended that each swimmer that participates in the workouts be able to comfortably swim 800 meters without stopping prior to attending. At the start of each session every athlete will be put into lanes with swimmers that are of similar ability. This will be determined at the first workout of each session. During each workout you can expect the coach or coaches on deck to assess swimmers stroke mechanics and ensure that the workout is being carried out properly.

The first session will start on October 13th, 2011, and the second session will start on January 5th, 2011, each Thursday night from 8-9pm at Riverwinds Community Center.

A typical workout will have a specific physiological focus that will be explained at the start of each session. Warm Ups and Cool Down sets will include instructed drills and easier sets. Main workout will include specific intervals at prescribed intensities dictated by the coach. Swim aids such as paddles, fins, and buoys will also be used, but after proper demonstration of each. The Riverwinds facility has buoys and paddles, but it's recommended that you contact Coach Jason for recommendations on paddles. Swim fins will not be provided, but will be used often so are highly recommended.

Each session will be limited to 32 swimmers. Please keep in mind that this is not a swim clinic, but an open workout with instruction. If you're looking for more personal swim stroke analysis check out our ETA Coach swim clinics.

Session Options:

The Thursday night swims are USAT Sanctioned. All participants must be a USAT member or pay 10.00 per session for swim clinic insurance. Please note that this is in addition to the swim clinic cost. Having a USAT membership allows you not only to participate in the swim clinic, but will also cover all of your race day insurance fees for a year; this way you will not have to pay 10.00 for every race and USAT sanctioned clinic you attend.
