Jason’s clinics have really helped me realize just how important time in the pool is. I was previously swimming lap after lap without any real purpose. After learning the different drills and techniques at ETA swim clinics, I watched my time and stroke improve dramatically. Personally, I do not have a fear of open water and knew I needed to tighten the bolts on my stroke. It made a real impact this season during my races. I’m now one of the first age groupers out of the water.

Jason’s coaching has been a tremendous help to me in making good progress on a real area of weakness for me. This season my goal was to improve my overall performance in triathlon and part of that goal was a more organized approach to swim training, which included ETA Coach swim clinics this past winter. I had participated in other swim instruction classes in the past but there were two evident differences that proved to be beneficial with ETA Coach that I had not found with other clinics. First, there was more individual attention. Although the clinics are designed for groups, the coach-to-student ratio allowed for individual critique and instruction, which was extremely helpful. In addition, the coaching was geared more specifically to triathlon and racing vs. a general overview of swimming technique so you walked away with a better sense of how to get to the finish line vs. just to the end of the pool. Taking the ETA Coach Swim Clinic really helped with my swim technique and confidence in the water. Greg and Jason were able to give specific and personalized feedback on technique after every length, and the drills they taught are great for keeping on track and improving over time. I really liked the structure of the training as I had time between sessions to practice the drills and techniques on my own. In a matter of weeks I reduced my 200yd time trial by about 15 secs and it set me up nicely for the triathlon season and my first Olympic distance race in June. The past 5 years of participating in triathlon I have completed the swim portion doing breaststroke and never followed any training plan but somehow managed to cross the finish line each time however long it takes me to do a sprint. I was a little intimidated entering the clinic not knowing what to expect. Each session, the coaches would explain the purpose of each drill and gave me constructive feedback after I've completed a drill. I had a lot of questions (and fun) during the class and they were very patient breaking it down for me in layman's terms (remember, I had no swim nor sports background so there was a lot of information being thrown at me which could be overwhelming at times). Immediately after the 12-week session I went from swimming 800meters up to 2000meters!

All I can say is the entire ETA Coach staff are so amazing and know what they are talking about. They helped me tremendously in achieving my goals of completing my first Olympic tri and most importantly made a swimmer out of me in such a short period of time. Their professionalism and their ability to communicate and listen to their athletes is immeasurable! Thanks ETA Coach, now that I can swim freestyle, I'm actually thinking of doing a HIM next year and will not hesitate to solicit help from Coach Jason, Coach Greg and Coach Maya again. When I first got the idea to try triathlon I went to the pool and tried to swim laps for the first time since I learned how to swim. I quickly exhausted myself within one lap, and proceeded to swim for another 9 minutes until, frustrated, I got out and gave up. At this point I was fairly surprised because I grew up an avid surfer and considered myself a pretty good swimmer; little did I know I had no clue how to swim for distance. I asked a few friends who swam competitively in college about how they could keep going and going. They gave me some pointers and I was able to do some decent workouts and even complete several triathlons with OK swim results. The problem was that I still felt like I didn't really know what I should be focusing on, how to structure a swim workout, or how to get better at swimming. ETA Coach's swim clinic gave me all the tools I needed to get my swim to the next level. The coaches work closely with every individual by giving specific drills to work on swim form, explaining how to structure a swim workout, and pointing out things you can work on to get better. They do all of this in a very collaborative way that makes you feel comfortable. I looked forward to the swim clinic each time we had it. I had been searching for a swim “clinic”. I have been doing sprint triathlons for a couple of years and knew that while swimming, I must have been doing something wrong; in fact, I had no idea if I was doing anything right. I had never had anyone look at my technique.

My tri-bike was fitted; my running sneakers have been adjusted, but no oone has ever looked at my swim. So, after a short search, I was lucky enough to find the ETA Coach swim clinic.

I had some idea of what to expect, but my expectations were phenomenally exceeded. Right from the start, I knew what I was doing was extremely inefficient and by focusing on the drill techniques, I became an incredibly better swimmer. Not only did my technique improve, so did my training swims as they provided me with a great training program.

I was in the winter/fall group and used it to it me motivated for the summer races. I competed in 1 Sprint and 2 Olympic Triathlons and had a personal best in the swim by an incredible amount of time.

Jason not only knows what he is doing, he knows how to teach it, depending on how you like to learn, he will adapt, and I think everyone in the class was a better swimmer at the end.

My fitness increased noticeably while working with ETA Coach. My running times and distances improved and I developed into a stronger cyclist. However the most dramatic improvement came in my swimming, in part because I attended Coach Jason's fantastic swim clinic. My swimming times improved about 20%, and my kick boarding times (my kick was laughable) improved 100%! I am now a much smoother and faster swimmer, and it’s totally because of Coach Jason's excellent coaching. - L.L.
