Assistant coach Nick Desantis

Nick DeSantis has both a scientific engineering and teacher-coach background, which makes him a unique addition to the ETA coaching team. At Rowan University, Nick earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and was also an Academic All-American Cross Country and Track athlete. During his experience at Rowan, Nick became close with his teammate and friend, Jason Kilderry. However, Nick and Jason are more than just college teammates. In 2009, Nick donated one of his kidneys to Jason, allowing Jason jump back into his life of coaching endurance athletes. Jason began to coach Nick after the operation – pushing Nick to PRs in the 5K, 10K, and marathon. The positive experience Nick had as an ETA athlete has inspired him to become an ETA coach.

After working in the industrial world as a chemical engineer for 3 years after college, Nick transitioned into a high school science teacher and coach. Nick’s coaching experience includes two years as an assistant cross country coach at Rowan University (2009-2010) under William Fritz. Nick also has had four years of experience (2009-2013) as an assistant & head cross country and track coach at Hammonton High School in southern New Jersey, leading a track team of more than 70 athletes in 2012. Nick is a USATF Level 1 certified coach who believes that scientific principles and a true love of the sport provide the framework for a great coach. Nick currently resides in Dallas, TX with his fiancee and is eager to jump back into coaching athletes with ETA.
