Head Coach Meg Smith

Continuing Jason’s Legacy

Meg’s interest in coaching began due to her love of competitive sports, desire to learn, and her aptitude for science. Her four years of High School swimming, cross country, and track set the foundation for her interest in triathlons. Early in her triathlon debut, Meg won Northeast Collegiate Triathlon Conference Rookie of the Year and placed third in the North Eastern Collegiate Triathlon Conference under the coaching of Jason Kilderry.

While Jason was coaching Meg, he noticed something special – her passion for science was similar to his own and her desire to learn was overwhelming. Over the next couple of years, Meg became Jason’s protégée. Jason and Meg spent countless hours discussing the science behind workouts and cutting edge research in the field. Meg has been published in USA Triathlon (add hyperlink) and has presented her research findings at the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meetings at both regional and national levels.

Meg’s research background and experience as a Manager at the Oreland Swim Club made her the perfect fit for an Assistant Coach with ETA Coach in February 2016. In this role, Meg assisted Head Coach Jason with workout planning, race logistics, and instructing swim clinics. In 2018, Meg took over ETA Coach and continues to provide evidence-based coaching to the endurance community.

Furthering her education

Meg Smith is a graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and a minor in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Sciences. She is continuing her education at Colorado State University where she is working towards a M.S. in Health and
Exercise Science, and a research concentration in Human Cardiovascular Physiology.
