Jessica DeGore

Jessica DeGore, RD LDN

Jessica is a Registered Dietitian (RD) who is very passionate about food, fitness, and health. She is motivated to help athletes perform at maximum effort to achieve the best results in all three of those disciplines. As Jessica teaches her athletes, correct nutrition will support, improve, and protect the body to meet rigorous training demands and positively impact performance.

Jessica’s journey to becoming a dietitian started when she was a high school athlete fascinated by exercise, food, and nutrition. This interest drove her decision to major in dietetics, and she received her BS in Nutrition (Applied Sciences Option) at The Pennsylvania State University. While there, she studied under world-renowned nutrition experts in a diet study lab and also ran an anthropometric lab focused on body fat. After her undergraduate studies, Jessica completed a competitive dietetic internship which included 1,200 hours of supervised practice at the University of Maryland as well as additional nutrition coursework. Upon passing the national board exam, she decided to pursue a career that would allow her to gain a broad spectrum of skills and experience by working in both acute and long-term rehabilitation hospitals, where she provided both inpatient and outpatient counseling and nutrition education. Jessica currently works clinically in Philadelphia, provides private nutrition counseling, and writes a blog where she shares healthy recipes, nutrition information, and workouts. Jessica is also a Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) Practice Group Dietitian who continues to broaden her knowledge as an active participant in the nutrition community focusing on sports nutrition.

Jessica‚Äôs goal as a Registered Dietitian is to use her education and expertise to provide evidence-based recommendations to help clients properly fuel their bodies and develop a healthy relationship with food. As a SCAN RD, she has the training, knowledge, and proficiency to help her clients live and perform optimally through good nutrition at every stage of life. The media and self-proclaimed nutrition experts create many misconceptions causing athletes to create disturbances in their diets. As a runner and triathlete herself, Jessica believes in a non-diet-based approach; she believes in eating intuitively and mindfully; it’s important to enjoy all foods in moderation and not create any unnecessary restrictions. Also, focusing on strict diets or labels should be avoided and replaced with healthy eating habits and whole foods to sustain good nutrition.

As a results-oriented person, Jessica understands the necessary balance between proper training and nutrition needed to maximize performance and surpass competition. Nutrition is a highly individualized practice based on each athlete’s needs on a daily basis, as well as their goals for competition and training. Depending on your goals and needs, you can choose from multiple packages for Jessica’s coaching options.
